DAY 1: CASABLANCA → RABAT → CHEFCHAOUEN
Your tour begins on arrival at Mohammed V International Airport or at your Casablanca hotel. The first stop is the Hassan II Mosque, where you can walk around its extraordinary exterior. The drive then continues to Rabat, the Moroccan capital, where you’ll visit the Hassan Tower and the atmospheric Kasbah of the Udayas.
After lunch in Rabat, the road leads north into the Rif Mountains and the blue city of Chefchaouen. On arrival, you’ll check in to your hotel or riad and enjoy a quiet first evening.
Approximate driving distance: 374 km
Approximate driving time: 6 hours
DAY 2: CHEFCHAOUEN → FES
The morning is yours to explore Chefchaouen at your own pace — wander the blue-painted streets, browse the souks, take photos, and enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of the many small cafés around the medina.
In the afternoon, the drive continues to Fes, where you’ll check in to a riad in the heart of the old medina.
Approximate driving distance: 197 km
Approximate driving time: 3 hours 38 minutes
DAY 3: GUIDED TOUR OF FES
Today is a full day in Fes with a knowledgeable local guide. You’ll begin at the golden gate of the Royal Palace before entering the maze-like alleys of the old medina — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along the way, you’ll visit Al-Qarawiyyin University, the Al-Attarine Madrasa, the Nejjarine Fountain, and the famous Chouara Tanneries.
You’ll also explore the historic Jewish quarter, the Mellah, before climbing to an old fortress for a panoramic view of the medina and the surrounding city. The evening returns you to your riad.
DAY 4: FES → IFRANE → MIDDLE ATLAS MOUNTAINS → ZIZ VALLEY → MERZOUGA DESERT
After breakfast, the long drive south to the Sahara begins with a short break in Ifrane. The route then climbs across the Middle Atlas, with a stop in the cedar forest where Barbary macaques are often seen. Lunch is served along the way before the drive enters the lush Ziz Valley with its long ribbon of palm groves.
You’ll arrive at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes in the afternoon. A camel trek takes you into the sand, with a pause on a high dune for a blazing sunset. On arrival at your luxury camp, a private tent with its own bathroom is ready for you. Dinner is followed by an evening of drumming and Berber songs around the campfire — and you’re welcome to join in with the drums yourself.
Approximate driving distance: 500 km
Approximate driving time: 7 hours 30 minutes
DAY 5: MERZOUGA DESERT → RISSANI → TODRA GORGE → DADES GORGE
An early wake-up catches sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, you’ll head back to Merzouga by camel or 4×4. If your visit falls on a market day (Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday), you can explore the traditional souk in Rissani.
The route continues to the Todra Gorge, where you’ll walk beneath its soaring cliffs and along the river. Further on, the striking “monkey fingers” rock formations mark the entrance to the Dades Valley, with panoramic views along the way before you check in to your hotel for the night.
Approximate driving distance: 310 km
Approximate driving time: 5 hours
DAY 6: DADES GORGE → OUARZAZATE → AIT BEN HADDOU → HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS → MARRAKECH
The final day begins with a drive to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa”, with an optional visit to the Atlas Studios. The route continues to Ait Ben Haddou, where you’ll explore the UNESCO-listed kasbah used as a backdrop for many internationally famous productions.
After lunch, the road climbs back over the High Atlas Mountains, with photo stops at the best viewpoints, before descending into Marrakech in the late afternoon.
