4 DAYS CASABLANCA TO MARRAKECH VIA THE SAHARA

PRIVATE TOUR — 4 DAYS CASABLANCA TO MARRAKECH VIA THE SAHARA

OVERVIEW

The 4 Days Morocco Tour is the fastest way to see the country’s big three: Casablanca, Fes, and the Sahara — all capped off in Marrakech. In four days you’ll stand outside the vast Hassan II Mosque, explore the Hassan Tower in Rabat, sleep in a riad in the heart of the Fes medina, cross the Middle Atlas cedar forests (with possible Barbary macaque sightings), ride camels over the Erg Chebbi dunes, sleep in a luxury desert camp, walk beneath the cliffs of Todra Canyon, and end at the UNESCO-listed Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou before reaching Marrakech.

Southern Morocco is built for scenery and adventure — this route packs the highlights into a short, well-organised trip.

Every itinerary is fully customisable to suit your preferences and pace.

DAY 1: CASABLANCA → RABAT → FES

Your 4 day Morocco tour begins with a morning pick-up at Mohammed V International Airport, your Casablanca hotel, or wherever you’re staying. The first stop is the Hassan II Mosque — the largest in Morocco and among the largest in the world — where you’ll walk around its decorated exterior and ocean-facing esplanade.

The road then continues to Rabat, the Moroccan capital, where you’ll explore the Hassan Tower (the minaret of an unfinished mosque) and visit the Mausoleum of Mohammed V. After lunch in Rabat, the drive continues to Fes, where you’ll settle into a riad in the old medina and enjoy dinner in the evening.

Approximate driving distance: 331 km
Approximate driving time: 4 hours 17 minutes

DAY 2: FES → IFRANE → MIDDLE ATLAS MOUNTAINS → ZIZ VALLEY → MERZOUGA DESERT

After breakfast, the drive south toward the Sahara begins. Your first stop is Ifrane, a small alpine-feeling town in the Middle Atlas often called the “Switzerland of Morocco”. A short break there, then the road continues across the mountains with a stop in the cedar forest, where Barbary macaques are often seen in the wild. Lunch is served at a restaurant along the way, and the drive continues via the Tizi n’Telghemt pass and along the scenic Ziz Valley.

You’ll arrive at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes in the late afternoon. Your camels will be waiting. The trek takes you across the sand, with a pause on a high dune to watch the sun set over the desert. On arrival at the camp, you’ll be welcomed with tea and shown to your private tent. After dinner, the evening unfolds around a campfire with Berber music, drumming, and a sky packed with stars.

Approximate driving distance: 500 km
Approximate driving time: 7 hours 30 minutes

DAY 3: MERZOUGA → RISSANI → TODRA CANYON → DADES GORGES

An early wake-up is rewarded with a spectacular sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, you’ll return to the town of Merzouga by camel or 4×4. If your visit falls on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday, you can explore the traditional Moroccan souk in Rissani.

The route then continues to Tinghir, with a panoramic stop overlooking palm groves and Berber villages. You’ll walk beneath the towering 300-metre cliffs of the Todra Canyon before the drive heads on to the Dades Gorges, where you’ll see dramatic geological formations that were once below the sea floor. A panoramic view of the region’s famous winding road rounds off the afternoon before you check in to your hotel.

Approximate driving distance: 310 km
Approximate driving time: 5 hours

DAY 4: DADES GORGES → OUARZAZATE → AIT BEN HADDOU → HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS → MARRAKECH

After breakfast, the drive heads west to Ouarzazate via Kalaat M’Gouna and the Valley of Roses (particularly beautiful in spring). In Ouarzazate — the “Hollywood of Africa” — you can optionally visit the Atlas Studios, one of the world’s largest film sets.

The road then continues to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a striking example of southern Moroccan architecture and a UNESCO-listed fortified village that has appeared in many internationally famous productions. After exploring the kasbah, the drive climbs back over the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260 metres, with stops for the best viewpoints, before descending into Marrakech. Your driver will drop you off at your riad.

Approximate driving distance: 353 km
